Adult Volunteers

Bexley Scout District, is a growing district, focused on providing quality, fun and adventurous activities for young people, boys and girls, ages 6 upwards, across the London Borough of Bexley.

Can you be part of our success?

Today, there are nearly 60,000 young people on the waiting list to join us in the UK. We’re more relevant and more needed than ever, but it’s not always easy to keep up with the demand.

We have ambitious plans to support the growth of current groups and opening of new groups and sections, and would like to offer you the opportunity to be part of our success.

Whether it’s one night a week, one hour a week or a couple of hours per month, be it in a uniformed leader’s role, or a more back of house support function, you can play a key role in helping us – and have a great time along the way. We promise that you will receive full training and support to help you settle into your new role, and I can almost guarantee that within weeks you will start to wonder why you did not volunteer years ago.

There really is a role for everyone.

Lots of people state that they would like to give something back to their community – but they don’t know how. Volunteering to help in Bexley Scouts is a perfect way. Below is a list of some of the roles we are always on the lookout for:

Leaders

We need section leaders and assistant leaders across all age groups, its hugely rewarding, and in many cases you get to take part in many of the activities – for example we own and operate a fleet of canoes and Kayaks, but don’t panic if that’s not your cup of tea you don’t have to take part.

If you didn’t want the commitment of being a leader or assistant leader but still wanted to help in the youth sections then you might like to consider becoming a sectional assistant or occasional helper.

Support Roles

Committee members – to help with the management of the District or an individual group. The management committee (or Executive Committee as we call it) is a little like a school board of governors and plays a vital role in supporting the provision of Scouting.
