Scout Active Support

The Aim of the Scout Active Support in Bexley is to be recognised and valued for providing effective and pro-active support and resources for Scouting Activities that benefit both young people and Adult Leaders, and to provide a social network for Fellowship members.

What is the Scout Active Support ?
We are a body of Adults who wish to actively support Scouting, but are unable to accept the regular commitments of a weekly appointment. Scout Active Support is open to anybody over the age of 18-there is NO upper age limit.

How is the Scout Active Support Organised ?
Like all other recognised Sections in the Movement the unit has a National and County Organisation with its own Assistant County Commissioner. Within Bexley all units have a Unit Manager and are totally democratic units with Members discussing requests for service and all other aspects. Units elect their own organising committees at AGM’s each year. They also agree on an annual basis a “remit” with the District Commissioner as to what assistance the Unit will provide over the next year

The members of the Scout Active Support also enjoy an active social programme with talks, rambles, meals, and there are also opportunities for continuing any training that you may wish to undertake.

What will we Undertake ?
Scout Active Support fulfils many different service requests ranging from assisting at Sports and Fun Days helping to man bases for competitions stewarding at St George’s Day parades and other special events to assisting Districts with support via the many different committees that exist to support Scouting. Everybody has some skill or experience that they can share. Scouting needs help with a wide range of activities as noted previously.

Do Scout Active Support members have to wear Uniform ?
NO. Members of the Scout Active Support may be either Associate or Full Members of the Scout association. Full Members make the Scout Promise and may wear uniform. Many Fellowships use a smart sweatshirt or similar as “uniform” for all their members.

We welcome people of all ages and interests
We welcomes men and women of all ages, interests and backgrounds. There is no need to have been a Scout or Guide. All that is required from you is a willingness to give Scouting some of your time. In return you will make friends and enjoy supporting the largest youth movement in the United Kingdom.

How do I join Scout Active Support ?
If you are over 18 and want to actively support the work of the Scout Movement with young people, learn some new skills and at the same time enjoy the fun and social activities of the Scout Fellowship please contact us at info@bexleyscouts.org.uk
